Simplot Grain Facilities

B&B Grain

The Land & Livestock Group of the Simplot Company owns two grain facilities. They are called B&B Grain. One is located in Mountain Home, Idaho and the other in Pasco, Washington. Each facility has the capability to unload 100 railcars in less than 15 hours, using a crew of three people.

The facility in Mountain Home has a holding capacity of 60,000 tons of corn and Pasco has room for 40,000 tons. Corn is purchased in the Midwest and sent by railcar to both sites. Each facility was built with a rail spur that will hold a 100-car train, which also gives us an advantage to negotiate rates with the railroad.

We receive approximately five trains per month at Mountain Home and four per month at Pasco. Most of the corn at Mountain Home is then transferred to our Double J Mill to be steam flaked before being trucked to the Simplot feedlots and fed to the cattle.

Corn is also used by Western Stockmen's (Simplot's animal health & feed division) to make feed for dairies and other feedlots in the area. Both sites sell corn to outside sources in the area. If you are interested in purchasing corn, please contact us.

Double J Milling

The Land & Livestock Group of the Simplot Company also owns a steam flaking mill that has been operational since March of 2005.  It is located in Mountain Home, Idaho adjacent to our B&B Grain facility which supplies the flaker with the corn.  This is a partnership with J.D. Heiskell Co.

The facility is operated 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and can process 150 tons of flakes an hour which equates to over 3,000 tons in a day.  This facility utilizes the latest steam flake technology.  It consists of six 24” x 56” flaking mills and includes a fully automated moisture control system to insure the highest quality flakes at a competitive cost.  The mill has the ability to produce hot flakes for immediate consumption or cool, dry flakes when a longer storage period is required.
