From the beginning, J.R. Simplot made business decisions for the long term. His dehydrated potatoes and onions reduced waste during the war years. In the 1950’s he began reusing potato scraps to feed cattle and used wastewater from his processing plant to irrigate nearby farm fields. These practices laid the groundwork for the Company’s strong commitment to sustainability.
