Simplot’s food production facilities in central Mexico source more than 70 million pounds of avocado annually to produce more than 50 million pounds of guacamole and other avocado-based products each year. Those products are distributed to global customers in North America and across the Asia Pacific region. Simplot is the second largest avocado processor in the world.
In support of our commitment to our avocado business, in 2024 the Company purchased a new state-of-the-art processing facility in Lagunillas, Mexico, not far from our existing Morelia plant. The new site was built in 2021 and will help ensure the long-term success of our operations and prepare us for future opportunities. Lagunillas will replace Morelia and expand our avocado service and capacity in the region in concert with our existing facility in Irapuato, Guanajuato, which came online in 2014.
Processing activities from Morelia will transition to the new site, along with its more than 800 employees.

Avocados in Action
Simplot’s Harvest Fresh® avocado line is crafted from Mexican Hass avocados and is 100% all-natural, vegan, Halal Certified, and Kosher. Global Food currently features 16 avocado products in its sales rotation, including frozen guacamole, pulp, halves, dices and flavored spreads. Our Company sells these products wholesale to a wide variety of foodservice operators, from restaurants to school cafeterias and everything in between.
We are proud that our avocados are sourced from the best areas of Mexico, where the climate and soil conditions create an ideal environment for growing premium avocados. Our Company uses advanced flash-freezing methods to preserve the fruit’s peak-ripe creamy texture and fresh flavor.
