Simplot Philanthropy Fair Shares Opportunities, Builds Community

May 06, 2022

BOISE, Idaho — It was Passion for People in action as employees gathered at Simplot Headquarters for the Company’s inaugural Philanthropy Fair on April 28. Nearly 100 employees and eight non-profit organizations came together to share and learn about ways to give back to the community.

At the lunchtime event employees discovered local organizations and learned more about their volunteer needs. Tables were set up in an open, “career fair” format, allowing people a chance to easily visit with the non-profits. They included Big Brothers Big Sisters; Boise Art Museum; Boys & Girls Club; Idaho Food Bank; Learning Lab; Ronald McDonald House; Women’s and Children’s Alliance; and the Idaho Nonprofit Center. Representatives from Simplot’s United Way group and the Simplot Volunteer Network also attended.

Groups’ representatives talked with interested employees about volunteer opportunities and their organizations’ mission and vision. Most booths saw 10-12 people sign up with the non-profits at the event, with many more requesting more info or taking it back to their teams.

For most of the participating groups, the Philanthropy Fair was their first in-person event in a long time; they were very excited to be at Simplot. Everyone also appreciated existing Simplot involvement in their organization, be it through employee membership on their board, or from the Company providing financial assistance.

Simplot AgriBusiness Senior Director of HR Kala Killworth shared a big thank you to all the Philanthropy Fair participants. ”Our community partners are so important to us, and we are grateful that you could come and see our Passion for People in action and help re-energize our team as the world gets back to normal,” she said. “I hope that we have an uptick in help for your teams and look forward to hearing any success stories.”

The Philanthropy Fair was a great way to come together in person and celebrate and support community. As President and CEO Garrett Lofto said, “I think this is what Simplot is all about. Service in the community and helping everyone.”
